We train dogs in obedience, tracking/trailing, and protection to qualified individuals. NJFA K9 Team forming As many of you may already know I will be acquiring another dog in the next few weeks. This dog, amongst other things, will be trained and certified for cadaver for use as a resource. If you are interested in being involved with Search and Rescue, particularly cadaver search and being a part of a deployable cadaver team, let me know. But… There is a significant commitment should you want to do this:· You will need to have a dog, a REAL working dog, not a pet, that was bred for scent work and agility work, and have means and facilities to house and keep it.· You will need to learn training and scent work from the ground up (pun intended)o Which means weekly training sessions at a MINIMUM for at least the first year. Training will be ongoing after that.· Clean record · Willingness to go on searches possibly any time day or night· Think of dedicating at least 5 years, all of it volunteering· Getting all relevant and necessary certifications· Getting all relevant and necessary gear and equipment NJFA K9 Team members will not have to pay for training sessions, but will have to pay for all of their own gear, credentials, travel, etc.
