“To teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target.”
Here in New Jersey Firearms Academy, we teach different levels of Shotgun training that is designed to equip a proper marksman in this discipline – whether you happen to be a law enforcement officer, a competitive shooter or would wish to protect your home.
Shotguns are mostly used for hunting, competition, personal defense and more. The most common type of shotgun is a 12 gauge. Other common gauges are 10, 16 and 20 gauge and the .410 Bore. Gauge measurement is based on the diameter of the barrel. The 12 gauge, 20 gauge and the .410 bore are the most widely available types of shotguns. The higher the gauge number, the smaller the barrel diameter.
The New Jersey Firearms Academy will teach you the basics, the mechanics as well as the proper shooting and handling of the shotgun. Those who wish to seek advanced and intermediate shotgun training are also encouraged to apply.
